Overview

Training and leading a team of property supervisors, overseeing all regions. Responsible for property claims quality and outcomes in accordance with company claim policies, practices, procedures and delegated authority. Assists the Property VP with tasking, moving projects and further provides additional coverage expertise for the property claims operations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares operating budget and monitors/controls departmental operating expenses. Oversees and controls allocated claim expenses.
  • Maintains override capability, authorizes settlements up to designated authority limits and submits recommendations to Sr. claims management and executives for those claims in excess of authority level.
  • Oversees productivity numbers and ensures they are in compliance with company standards.
  • Ensures consistent communication and employment of corporate property claims practices and guidelines to all regional field claims personnel.
  • Plans, controls and coordinates claims activity and workflow within the claims office or department in order to maintain the highest professional customer service and technical standards.
  • Ensures the timely settlement of claims and maintains acceptable closing ratios for the department. 
  • Recommends claims procedural changes and plans, organizes and implements these changes in accordance with company guidelines. Keeps current on all changes affecting office or department's work production.
  • Actively manages and monitors catastrophic events and reserving.
  • Plans, reviews and conducts claims reviews and settlement conferences.
  • Mediates and responds to agency, insured and regulatory complaints and disputes regarding property claim resolution.

Qualifications

  • Excellent technical and coverage knowledge with at least 10 years of experience handling and/or managing property claims
  • Must have a high aptitude and operational ability in working with Xactimate, XactAnalysis, MS Excel, Word and Outlook and a working knowledge of MS Power Point.
  • Excellent communication (written and oral), organizational, interpersonal and customer skills.
  • Possess strong analytical abilities and can interpret data from spreadsheets and other sources to provide feedback and recommendations that will support, enhance or improve organizational measures.
  • Able to plan, controls and coordinates claim activity and workflow in order to maintain the highest professional customer service and technical standards.
  • Provides close mentoring, training and direction to staff.
  • Maintains positive experience and relationships with customers and business partners.
  • College degree preferred.
  • 10+ years property claims experience.
  • At least, 5 years claims management experience.
