Overview

Performs a wide variety of tasks related to the general office maintenance environment. Provides a safe, secure comfortable professional work environment for all employees. Assists management with projects related to field or fields of expertise. Must become familiar with overall building infrastructure. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to repair requests for all office furnishings (including desks, chairs, partitions, and cabinets, and for minor electrical, plumbing, drywall, HVAC and carpentry repair). Performs revamping both indoor and outdoor.
  • Responsible for the installation of carpet, cove base, light bulbs, ballasts, data and voice communication wiring (in coordination with Information Technology Systems (ITS). Ensure that all repairs and services are completed correctly and on schedule. 
  • Assists in moves or relocation of office furniture. This includes travel to other office locations to handle facility related issues. This may require daily overtime, weekend or holiday work. Responsible for the daily “set ups” of classroom and other areas within the facility.
  • Performs interior and exterior painting as needed. Responsible for keeping buildings and the surroundings clean, presentable, and usable. 
  • Assists in changing filters, oiling motors and other preventative maintenance functions. Responds to work orders that are initiated via the internal work order system for unscheduled jobs and preventative maintenance tasks. Able to respond to emergency situations on a 24/7 basis, troubleshoots and repairs problems. 
  • Participates in grounds activity such as snow removal, landscaping and other related activities. During the winter months the employee may be “on call” for snow removal duty. 
  • Assists in the unloading and delivery of supplies.
  • Assists with fleet reservations, rent-a-car reservations and performs general fleet automobile services. Including delivery and pick-up of vehicles from local service locations. 
  • Assists in emergency medical and emergency evacuation procedures. Maintains accurate records regarding preventative maintenance, service requests (received and completed), expenditures, space make-ready status, work in progress, etc. 
  • May assist in various projects at regional locations. Must be able to drive an automobile to travel within territory. Car travel represents approximately 10-20% of employee’s time and a valid driver’s license. 

Qualifications

  • Must have valid state-issued driver’s license in good standing and be able to drive an automobile.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years working a trade such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry or etc.
  • 3-5 years working a trade such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry or etc. preferred.
