Utilizing claims handling knowledge and experience this position will be responsible for the project management of various claims learning programs. This will include planning, organizing, developing and delivering training curricula, materials, and programs to meet specific claims training needs. The Sr.Claims Learning Specialist (SCLS) will perform needs analysis to identify learning gaps and opportunities, and will work with claims leadership and subject matter experts (SME) to ensure course materials are current and relevant to training needs. The SCLS will be responsible for tracking and analyzing learning programs using satisfaction levels, proficiency testing, and job performance. The SCLS will also be responsible for designing and delivering computer-based training programs. SCLS will act as a mentor and provide guidance to CLS members and trainers. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

This position can work out of our regional offices in Branchville, NJ; Hunt Valley, MD; Carmel, IN; Hamilton, NJ; Charlotte, NC; Richmond, VA or Allentown, PA


  • Possess and maintain claims knowledge and experience by working closely with claims leadership, claims business analysts and the various lines of business.
  • Partners with project sponsor and SMEs to conduct needs analysis and determine learning strategy. Develop learning objectives, content outline, presentations and job aides. Identifies most effective learning solutions, including instructor led, virtual, videos, eLearning etc. 
  • Designs and develops training programs, materials and curriculum using appropriate instructional design methodologies. Includes Learning design and development through various course authoring technologies, such as, Camtasia, Storyline, Go Animate. Creates leaders guides, performance support tools, etc. Delivers training programs using appropriate instructor led techniques to manage learning.
  • Work with client to establish meaningful measurement criteria. Monitor progress toward goals, communicate outcomes and recommend incremental enhancements as needed. Understand measurement criteria and assessment of survey results.
  • Act as learning project manager. Work with claims leadership to ensure business goals are met. Manage project time, cost, scope and quality. Build collaborative relationships and facilitate and document development by project team. Develop and implement effective internal marketing and communication plans. Provide input to managers regarding performance of project team members or presenters. Manages execution to ensure efficient achievement of business goals.
  • Determine and develop training based on strategic initiatives. Identify skill gaps and develop training strategies to meet the business needs. Take appropriate actions to reduce learning constraints and improve desired behaviors, outcomes and training results.
  • Attends seminars, conferences, and participates in educational organizations to develop best in class educational processes. Keeps abreast of latest instructional design techniques. Learns new technologies as needed.
  • Develop contracts, review with client and negotiate fees/services. Understands and works within company guidelines for contract management.
  • Acts as a mentor and provides subject matter guidance to other team members. Assists training leader with
  • organizational training strategy and other managerial duties. Operates as the key technical liaison for department as needed.
  • Expected travel is 25% of job function


  • Must have strong functional claims knowledge in Property and Liability is preferred
  • 5+ years insurance experince
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Sharepoint)
  • Must be able to communicate complex subject matter in clear and simple terms including:  products & services, policy language by LOB, processes and procedures, technical skills, company position and industry trends, endorsements/exclusions, and state and/or regional differences.
  • Must have valid state-issued driver’s license in good standing. 
  • College degree preferred
  • Preferred functional knowledge of authoring tools Camtasia, Storyline and Cornerstone or
  • Preferred knowledge of instructional design fundamentals
