  • Overview

    Opportunity for an experienced facilities engineer to work on a 90-acre campus that hosts 850 employees daily. Hold a vital position in our organization while growing your career and expertise in the field. This role provides periodic and routine preventative maintenance to plant equipment and environmental controls. Must become familiar with overall building infrastructure and follow company procedures with appropriate reporting protocols.

    Responsibilities

    Perform periodic and routine preventative maintenance on plant mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment in accordance with Selective’s standards, building protocol, manufacturer recommendations and industry best practices. This includes but is not limited to:

    • Perform repairs on all plumbing, electrical, carpentry and boiler equipment
    • Monitor and adjust all mechanical/pneumatic equipment, steam stations, control gauges, distributor panels, valves, thermostats, diffusers, and other equipment necessary to provide a comfortable environment for the buildings;
    • Verify field conditions and perform necessary repairs or adjustments.
    • Monitor Energy Management;
    • Repair doors, ceilings, hand railings, floors and other general repairs, adjustments and installations about the property;
    • Annual inspections and other scheduled routines as directed.
    • Understand and operate electronic controls for all environmental needs. 
    • Respond immediately and/or assist in all emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure, emergency medical, etc.) and customer concerns. 
    • Maintain service records of equipment, controls, and tests.
    • Provides assistance to other department members as needed. May be required to be on the snow crew as needed.
    • Available on an on-call basis during non-business hours and to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays.
    • Required to operate and monitor UPS system, stand by generator, alarm systems, and other related equipment.
    • May assist with heating equipment, chillers (air and/or water cooled), DX units, pumps, cooling towers, fan coil units, VAV and air distribution systems;
    • Assist as required, and as requested in the installation of furniture systems.
    • Assist in the installation of data, voice, and security communications wiring.

    Qualifications

    • Must have and maintain state issued driver’s license in good standing.
    • 3-5+ years of related work experience in operating mechanical, electrical, boiler and plumbing systems in a commercial property setting.
    • Basic proficiency in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Excel and Word).
    • Ability to multi-task, demonstrate a sense of urgency, take initiative and deliver superior customer service results.
    • High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an apprentice program or trade school preferred.

     

     

    Preferred:

    • Boiler Operators license.
    • A State issued license in one or more of the building trades.
    • Technical training and/or experience with nominal voltage up to 600V.
