  • Overview

    This position will provide analytical support and solution development expertise relative to the Commercial Lines Underwriting Review Process. Coordination of regional underwriting self-review cycles as well as home office SBU underwriting review cycles. Applying technical underwriting skills, this position will review underwriting review summary sheets and incremental reports such to aggregate data to an enterprise level, uncovering negative and positive underwriting trends. As well, this position will ensure controls are in place for corrective action plans emanating from regional underwriting self-reviews and home office SBU underwriting reviews. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.completes quality assurance reviews of accounts as needed/requested.

    Responsibilities

    • Coordinate cross-regional underwriting self-review cycles.
    • Coordinate home office SBU underwriting review cycles in accordance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
    • Receive and review underwriting review summaries and reports, and, aggregate to an enterprise view.
    • Analyze underwriting review summaries and reports such to assess negative and positive trends.
    • Generate solutions for needs-improvement within the underwriting community – partnering with SBU, LOB, Legal, Compliance, Information Technology, Business Support Unit, (BSU) and Training functions as warranted.
    • Participate in underwriting review wrap-up sessions.
    • Ensure adequate controls for corrective action plans derived from regional and home office underwriting reviews.

     

    Qualifications

    • Certifications in underwriting profession desirable – examples being CPCU, ARM, CIC, IIA.
    • Strong multi-line underwriting technical skills.
    • Understanding of state and regulatory requirements in the insurance industry.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including collaboration, ability to influence and presentation abilities.
    • Consulting experience a plus.
    • College degree in risk management, business, finance or a related field preferred.
    • 5+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience.
