    Selective's Personal Lines Underwriting department in the Richmond, Virginia Service Center is seeking a Co-Operative Educational Processing Support individual to perform and provide support pertaining to entering, maintaining, processing, and the issuance of insurance or insurance-related documents.  This role is for a COLLEGE or HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT and will go from semester to semester working with school schedule, working on administrative projects as well as having an opportunity to learn the insurance industry.  

     

    All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

    Responsibilities

    • File, locate, pull and classify a variety of different materials.
    • Assists in the processing of renewal policies, endorsements, cancellations, and correspondence. Includes reviewing and updating policies as a result of additional reports: property inspections, class checks, renewal questionnaires, etc.
    • Type various forms, reports, and correspondence. Identify errors and incompleteness in materials submitted. Proofreads typed material to ensure a quality product.
    • Utilize PC to enter and verify data necessary to complete transactions. Search, update, interpret select and/or code items to be entered or extracted from a database.
    • Pull necessary forms in order to ensure accuracy and completeness of insurance information.
    • Perform general clerical duties such as photocopying, sorting mail, assisting in other support functions.
    • Handle incoming correspondence from agents and in some cases customers responding to inquiries on coverage, and making adjustments to policy information based upon prescribed authority level.
    • Conduct outbound correspondence and follow-up work to agents required to close our inquiry/transaction. 

    Qualifications

    • High School diploma (or en route to receive) with one year of data entry, word processing or typing experience.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, preferred
    • Business school preferred.
